FRANCE – SPAIN BREAKS A NEW AUDIENCE RECORD ON TWITCH
This Saturday night, the France – Spain match between streamers and youtubers has set a new audience record on the Twitch platform.
Last October, Squeezie and his Formula 4 GP Explorer had set a record audience for a French Twitch channel. Well, this record is no more since Saturday night. The “Eleven All Stars”, a soccer match between France and Spain streamers and youtubers thought and organized by Amine at the Jean-Bouin Stadium in Paris has attracted nearly 1.16M viewers at the end of the match on the channel of the latter. That’s about 120,000 more than Squeezie’s Grand Prix.
The tone had been set during the pre-game. Indeed, both teams were constantly joking about being the better team. “ I wouldn’t say that they are the enemies of the French Internet, it’s still good-natured, but they are a natural opponent, had explained Amine. There was the Pixel War recently, but even before that, on esport games, there was a rivalry between the two countries. Plus, it’s a border country, we’re two big soccer countries, it was only natural to play them.”
Even if some Spanish viewers may have contributed to increase this number and set the new record, the French Twitch has nevertheless exceeded the million viewers twice in a little more than a month and for two different sports events. In addition, 20,000 people also filled the stands of Jean-Bouin on Saturday night to watch the French win 2-0.
