France – England: The English eliminated by Les Bleus

FRANCE – ENGLAND: THE ENGLISH ELIMINATED BY THE BLUES

It was the game not to be missed. Last Saturday at 8 pm, the French team defeated its English opponent with a score of 1-2 and qualified for the semi-finals of the World Cup 2022 after a match with unbearable suspense.

ENGLISH DOMINATION IN THE GAME

We witnessed a very tight start to the game. Indeed, the first quarter of the game was placed under the sign of observation. Both teams tried to set up their game, and it smiled more to the English. The Three Lions were very pressing and placed their block very high on the field, in order to prevent the French recovery. A little caught by the English vice at the beginning, the Blues then found the spaces between the lines thanks to a very inspired Antoine Griezmann.

The Frenchman was once again very valuable in the midfield, oxygenating it with his movements and proposals. But it is around the 17th minute of the game, after a good English sequence, that Les Bleus find the breakthrough. After a good combination, Griezmann gives back to Tchouaméni. The latter asked no questions and fired a wonderful shot into Jordan Pickford’s far corner. The rest of the first half was very close, so much so that no other clear action will be reported.

A BREATHLESS SECOND HALF

The second half of the game kept all its promises in terms of emotion. Indeed, after the return of the locker room, the hero of the evening, Aurélien Tchouaméni went from laughter to tears in the 54th minute. He committed a foul in the box after a good breakthrough of Bukayo Saka. It was obviously Harry Kane who took the penalty. The English striker easily converted it with a powerful shot into the top left corner of Hugo Lloris’ net from the other side. The score is brought to 1-1 in the 55th minute.

The game continues with a lot of commitment and an English team boosted by this penalty. The possession sequences intensified for Gareth Southgate’s players who fortunately did not find the breakthrough. Nevertheless, we had to wait for a new French sequence to see the Blues take the advantage in this game. After a good cross from Griezmann coming from the left of the box, Olivier Giroud emerges in front of the English defender and places a header of which only he has the secret. The fact is that the ball is slightly deflected by Harry Maguire and ends up in the net! 2-1 for the French team in this match.

FACT OF THE MATCH: KANE’S MISSED PENALTY

In spite of the French team’s advantage in the score, we still feared the worst within the French clan. Because after a shoulder blow of Lucas Hernandez on Mason Mount in the surface, the referee decides to consult the VAR. After a review, he awarded a penalty to the Three Lions. It’s Harry Kane again who steps forward. The English striker rushes and puts a lot of power in his shot which escapes the frame, and finishes over the goals of Hugo Lloris. France folded at the end of the game, but did not break. Les Bleus keep their advantage until the end of the game and qualify for the semi-final of this world in Qatar.
